Day 2: Best Day Ever - Jakarta Chinatown Discovery
Commence with a visit to one of Jakarta's oldest Chinese houses, built in the 19th century but located in the middle of modern office blocks. Walk to the centre of Jakarta's Chinatown known as Glodok. Stroll through the traditional market vending everything from Chinese decorations, to fresh vegetables and local fruits, exotic foods, and daily supplies. Visit some ancient temples to learn how the Chinese pray. Meanderiing through the residential areas, see how Chinese blend with the Malays and people from different ethnic groups. These cultures have assimilated beyond temples. Lastly walk through the famous food court, full of delicious local foods from pig belly to hainam rice. Stop at a few favourite places, including an old coffee shop for a taste of local delicacies. Experience Chinese culture such as the making of traditional Chinese calligraphy, fortune telling and an ancient medicine store. The senses awakened by the tastes and smells of Chinatown, be ready to take on the rest of Jakarta.

Jalan Sabang, known as one of the culinary centers in Jakarta, offers a variety of culinary that is delicious, very much enjoyable, worth a try, and definitely something you wouldn’t want to miss! The food and area that has already been in Jakarta for a long time has its own story and grows alongside Jakarta’s development as a city. The area known for its crowdedness and close proximity to office buildings makes Jalan Sabang an interesting place to find unique street food culinary. This includes a diversity of culinary and food originating from different places throughout the Indonesian archipelago, such as Betawinese, Javanese, and even Acehnese food on the streets of Jalan Sabang, as well as food from Madura, Palembang, and Minang.
